About The Position

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a passionate and strategic Senior Creative Director - Art and Design to join the team behind one of the most iconic MMORPGs of all time, World of Warcraft. As a key member of our Brand Marketing Team - the storytellers of our brand - you will be dedicated to crafting narratives that inspire and resonate across the globe. You will create campaigns that capture hearts and minds, ensuring World of Warcraft’s presence is not only felt and remembered in every market but also re-establishes WoW’s place in the cultural zeitgeist. We are looking for a creative visionary with a powerful art background who can lead the development of inspiring and cohesive external marketing campaigns that reflect WoW’s product and brand essence, connect with audiences on an emotional level, and can articulate the brand’s objectives through high-quality visual content. As our Senior Creative Director – Art and Design, you will lead the creative direction and execution of global marketing campaigns for World of Warcraft's expansion launches and ongoing content updates, with a heavy focus on the way our ideas manifest into visual reality. You will guide the development of design, illustration, animation, motion graphics, typography, and more, and in partnership with your teammates and cross-functional partners, help set the vision for how Warcraft tells its story across all our platforms. Most importantly, you’ll be the tip of the spear in visual excellence across Warcraft’s many manifestations, serving as a craft expert who is just as adept at explaining and contextualizing ideas as creating them. Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in art leadership as an Art Director, Designer, or Illustrator either in-house or at a creative agency
  • 5+ years of experience in brand marketing
  • 3+ years of demonstrated people management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Art, Design, Marketing, related field or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated successes collaborating with across departments and with external agencies
  • Detailed project management skills and ability to maintain strategic view of all work
  • Previous experience successfully managing creative people including designers and artists
  • Thinks broadly about communication challenges while helping to focus the thinking of others around clear objectives
  • Has a sincere passion for branding, advertising and storytelling as well as games, comics, movies and media
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills for working with internal and external teams

Responsibilities

  • Creative Direction: Guide the development of visuals, messaging, and content that bring the brand story to life across all platforms.
  • Cultural Relevance: Focus on bringing the brand back to the forefront of cultural relevance, ensuring that campaigns resonate with the cultural zeitgeist.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure that all external communications align with the brand’s voice, positioning, and strategic vision, maintaining a unified brand presence across all channels.
  • Global Campaign Consistency: Ensure that global campaigns are executed consistently across all territories, collaborating with Product Marketing to support local adaptations while maintaining the core brand message.
  • Provide high level guidance, iterative review and approval of Warcraft related materials in all franchise extensions
  • Conceptualize and design for online ad campaigns while adhering to the visual quality of the brand
  • Solve complex visual problems and turn them into beautifully clear designed solutions that reinforce the brand
  • Build strong relationships with support cross-functional partners, identify key creative leaders for partnership, and further shared creative values and goals
  • Manage multiple projects from start to finish while keeping multiple stakeholders both in and out of the organization appropriately informed and engaged
