About The Position

The Senior Coverage Director will oversee management of coverage litigation and arbitration in various Casualty practice areas, including Primary Casualty, Excess Casualty, and Environmental claims. This role involves selecting and managing outside counsel, developing litigation strategies, and providing pre-litigation advice on complex coverage issues. The position requires a high degree of specialized knowledge in casualty coverage and litigation management, with responsibilities extending to oversight of discovery requests and attendance at depositions and trials as necessary.

Requirements

• 7 or more years of experience as a lawyer and/or claims professional.
• High degree of specialized and technical competence in casualty coverage issues.
• Experience in litigation management and handling complex coverage issues.
• Law degree is required.
• Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work professionally with clients and business partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a complex operating environment.
• Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials from various sources.
• Experience in senior management reporting.

Nice To Haves

• Applicable resident or designated home state adjusters license (if not already obtained).
• Additional state licensure may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage coverage litigation and arbitration in designated Casualty practice areas.
• Select and manage outside counsel for defense in coverage disputes.
• Develop litigation and resolution strategies for coverage issues.
• Oversee all aspects of coverage litigation and arbitration, including discovery requests.
• Attend depositions, mediations, and trials as necessary.
• Provide pre-litigation advice and review of complex coverage issues.
• Assist with responses to DOI complaints.
• Identify litigation and claim trends and develop opportunities to address these trends.
