About The Position

The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts serves the citizens of Fulton County by maintaining and providing access to court and public records and by supporting court operations across Superior and Magistrate Courts. The office plays a critical role in the administration of justice and public trust, supporting judges, justice partners, attorneys, and the public through accurate recordkeeping, responsive service, and operational excellence. The Senior Court Associate is responsible for maintaining court records and documents for an assigned division within the Fulton County Court System. This position serves as a unit or division lead, providing guidance, training, and support to staff while ensuring compliance with court procedures, records management requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, independent judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume, public-facing court environment. Work is reviewed primarily for accuracy, compliance, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, data entry, records management, administration, court/legal operations, or law enforcement/corrections.
  • One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of Court.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing court operations.
  • Knowledge of records management practices and retention schedules.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in court-specific computer applications and general office software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, including grammar, spelling, and accuracy.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff, officials, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Law, Political Science/International Relations, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Performs court clerk duties for an assigned division, including examining and certifying court documents.
  • Conducts docket entry work and maintains case data in the Odyssey case management system
  • Reviews daily system reports and corrects data discrepancies as necessary.
  • Attends court sessions regularly to support court operations.
  • Maintains court records in accordance with established procedures and records retention schedules.
  • Files, images, and secure court documents, ensuring proper security level coding.
  • Processes disposed cases for archiving and assists in assigned records rooms.
  • Conducts research and retrieval of court records as requested
  • Processes and records payments for fines and penalties.
  • Enter financial transactions accurately into court information systems.
  • Provides telephone and counter service to attorneys, litigants, and the public.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding court procedures, filings, and case status.
  • Assists governmental agencies and justice partners with court-related requests.
  • Works within eFile and eServe queues to initiate, review, and file documents.
  • Images documents to electronic files in accordance with court standards.
  • Trains, mentors, and provides lead directions to assigned staff.
  • Supports team performance through guidance, workflow coordination, and knowledge sharing.
  • Assists with time-sensitive assignments and special projects as directed.
  • Supports cross-departmental functions as needed to meet operational and departmental needs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information in compliance with County and court policies.
  • Maintains professionalism when working in high-conflict or politically sensitive situations.
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion in daily operations.
