About The Position

SENIOR COUNSELOR Help create an unforgettable summer by leading campers and supporting counselors in an active, outdoor, and community-driven environment. Requirements

  • Age: 21+
  • Experience working with children (required)
  • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications.
  • Valid driver's license (eligible to drive camp vehicles after training)
  • Must be able to move actively throughout camp, supervise children outdoors, and maintain awareness in a dynamic environment.
  • Go West Camps is a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free facility.
  • Employment at Go West Camps in contingent on clear State and Federal background checks and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all Go West Camps guidelines and emergency procedures, American Camp Association standards, State Social Services standards and County Health Department standards.
  • Facilitates daily activities that are appropriate for the age level, skill level and development of participants.
  • Ensures proper use, organization, storage and care of materials and equipment.
  • Helps children and fellow staff in cleaning common areas and performing daily tasks.
  • Provides discipline to participants in accordance with Go West Camp policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff and participants.
  • Provides timely communication with Unit Leaders and Camp Leadership.
  • Attends and helps to lead training and in-services as assigned as is appropriate to their experience.
  • Completes required reports, attendance records, and other necessary clerical tasks in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance for fellow counselors experiencing difficult situations with campers
