Senior counsel works as an in-house health care attorney dealing with laws and regulations that relate to the health care field. The legal practice of a health care attorney is interdisciplinary and focuses on the various entities that comprise the world of heath care, such as hospitals, doctors, long-term care facilities, medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and medical transportation companies. Health care lawyers represent these entities in a host of matters, including complying with health care laws and regulations, privacy and security concerns, and dealing with health care fraud and insurance reimbursement issues. As an In-House Counsel you can expect your daily duties to include: Provide practical and wide-ranging advice on legal issues; review contracts/renewals related to physicians, suppliers, and independent contractors and other. Advice in risk management, guardianship, healthcare decision making issues. Conduct Legal Research into a variety of healthcare and business-related issues. Providing accurate, relevant and timely advice to your employer and other members of staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business sector and their products or services. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements. Managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures. Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business. Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company. Communicating with and managing any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors. Designing and delivering legal training to the business. Staying up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect your business and specific industry. Liaising with senior members of staff. Assist in the management of outside counsel on litigation or risk related matters. Coordinating with Regulatory Department on compliance initiatives throughout the organization. Participate and/or create ROS projects that lead to improvement of your department. Communicate with all individuals in a positive and professional manner. Attempt to resolve individual issues with peers in a positive, calm manner, with a focus on solution. Communicate concerns and provide solutions for same. Attend outside seminars and/or educational classes to promote professional growth and meet continuing education requirements. Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude toward parties outside Rogers Behavioral Health ((i.e. academic partners, professional guest speakers etc.). Comply with Rogers Memorial Hospital policies and procedures, including Human Resources, Infection Control, and Employee Health policies and programs. Project a professional image by wearing appropriate, professional attire as defined in Rogers Memorial Hospital policy.
