About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for transactionally focused work, including contract drafting/negotiation and policy review, and other legal work needed to support various BJC entities and departments. A background in one or more of the following areas is desirable: real estate (facility/office leasing), supply chain, IT and physician/clinical service agreements. Requires familiarity with health care regulations, including Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, and FCA. Areas of responsibility may change over time, depending upon the department’s needs and the individual's aptitude and interests. Requires superior writing and communication skills; a positive, outcome-focused attitude; good judgment, workload management and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and colleagues. This position is mostly remote position with availability for onsite as necessary for meetings. Candidates should reside in or be willing to relocate to the Greater St. Louis area.   • Education: Doctorate - Law
  • Experience: 2-5 years
  • Licenses & Certifications: Attorney - applicable state

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes legal issues and risks and provide legal guidance by conferring with clients, reviewing and drafting memoranda, and/or other documents, including contracts, to maximize protection of the organization's assets and interests.
  • Provision of a comprehensive range of legal services and legal advice to BJC Hospitals and Service Organizations, with particular emphasis on specific legal areas assigned.
  • Provides expertise in the formulation and development of new policies and revision of existing policies; and provides expertise and advice in the implementation and application of policies.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively manage a workload that is large, diverse, and complex with minimal direct supervision or direction.
  • Possess exceptional legal knowledge and excellent written and communication skills.
