Responsibilities

  • Manage AZ’s Oncology-related commercial and R&D legal risks for global teams.
  • Serve as the legal team for AstraZeneca’s US Oncology business.
  • Responsible for all Oncology-related litigation (including commercial, product liability, and IP litigation) and government investigations.
  • Advise global teams on key legal risks and opportunities across the discovery, development, and commercialization of our life-changing medicines.
  • Influence business decisions with legal advice and analysis.
  • Articulate legal considerations to senior stakeholders clearly and concisely in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • JD and admission to the bar of at least one state.
  • 5+ years of legal experience specifically in litigation.
  • Ability to take accountability, appropriately calibrate risk and make decisions with confidence and professional maturity.
  • Practical and pragmatic approach.
  • Intellectually curious, appetite for learning with a proven ability to master new subjects quickly and effectively.
  • Resilient and able to operate effectively and independently under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing accountabilities and stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong working knowledge of the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry including the discovery, development, and commercialization life-cycle.
  • Law firm and/or in-house experience with patent litigation, commercial litigation, and/or government investigations.
  • Familiarity with US drug pricing, reimbursement, payer, and channel landscape, and of the relevant laws governing commercial arrangements in healthcare.
  • Experience providing legal advice to oncology R&D or commercial teams.
  • Experience advising global pharmaceutical/life-sciences organizations regarding R&D or commercial matters.
  • Educational background in Biology or Chemistry.
