About The Position

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Cost Controller to join us in our Gas Operations East team in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or one of our Operational locations across the East on a full time permanent basis. This is a high-impact role operating across a significant, multi year capital program, where strong cost control directly supports portfolio optimisation, investment decisions, and free cash flow outcomes. You will lead the development of fit for purpose cost control frameworks, uplift forecast accuracy, and deliver clear, decision ready insights to senior leaders. Reporting to the Manager Capacity & Long Term Planning – Gas East, you will partner closely with project delivery, asset planning, and finance teams, acting as a trusted advisor and setting the standard for cost control across the portfolio. About the Team You’ll be joining the Gas East Asset Planning & Performance (APP) team, a commercially focused group embedded within the broader Gas East Operations business. APP supports leaders to make confident, forward looking decisions across the asset lifecycle by bringing together planning, performance insight, and disciplined governance. Working closely with delivery, operations, finance, and leadership teams, APP connects strategy with execution, providing clarity on performance, risk, and investment trade offs to ensure Gas East’s assets are managed efficiently and deliver sustainable long term value. Requirements

  • Significant experience leading cost control and forecasting across large scale capital programs or asset intensive environments.
  • Proven capability designing and implementing cost control frameworks, governance, and performance metrics.
  • Strong commercial understanding of project execution models, contractor cost drivers, productivity assumptions, and change control.
  • High level of financial and systems literacy, including ERP/EAM platforms and business intelligence tools such as Power BI (or similar).
  • Ability to apply sound commercial judgement and convert complex data into clear, actionable insights for leadership.
  • Confident leader who sets clear expectations, challenges constructively, and builds strong partnerships across delivery, finance, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and embed best practice cost control frameworks and standards across the Gas East capital portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain robust EAC, ETC and cashflow forecasts aligned to delivery sequencing and resourcing plans.
  • Analyse portfolio performance (run-rate, commitments, forecast variance) and provide clear, decision ready insights to leadership.
  • Design and operate disciplined month end cost control and governance processes aligned with financial reporting and project delivery.
  • Establish early warning indicators for cost and delivery risks, proactively escalating issues and recommending mitigations.
  • Drive improvements in data quality, systems integration, and automated reporting (e.g. Power BI or similar) to support portfolio optimisation and FCF outcomes.
