We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing and managing the cost of operations, products, and services, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, cost analysis, and budgeting to optimize company profitability and efficiency.

  • Cost Analysis and Reporting: Analyze production, labor, and material costs to ensure accurate cost allocation and prepare detailed cost reports for management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing budgets and forecasts by providing cost data and identifying trends to support financial planning.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and reconcile inventory records, ensuring accuracy in costing and valuation of inventory.
  • Cost System Maintenance: Maintain and improve cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs, providing actionable insights to management.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to cost accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce costs through analysis and collaboration with other departments.
  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate cost-related documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production, procurement, and finance teams to align cost strategies with organizational goals.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting or a related financial role, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or a similar industry.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite & QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications: CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
