The Senior Cost Accountant is a key member of the Plant Operations and Finance teams, supporting two manufacturing sites. This role partners closely with our Site Controller and Operations leadership to drive financial accuracy, cost transparency, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting. This role requires 4 days on-site presence at all supported sites and o ccasional travel between sites is .

  • Lead cost accounting activities across both sites, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Support monthly close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Perform inventory reconciliations and analysis, including cycle count reporting and annual physical inventory coordination.
  • Analyze product cost structures, BOMs , routings, and labor rates to ensure accurate cost modeling.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve inventory health.
  • Prepare and manage capital expenditure tracking, asset capitalization, and project cost analysis.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost projections and margin analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting to streamline processes and implement best practices across sites.
  • Provide backup support to Site Controllers and assist with ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and manufacturing cost principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP experience a plus) .
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with systems implementation or process improvement initiatives is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
