About The Position

The Senior Cost Accountant supports cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and financial reporting within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. This role leads month‑end and year‑end close activities, performs detailed account analysis, supports standard cost updates, and partners with operations to ensure accurate costing and adherence to corporate accounting policies. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, BOMs, and cost structures.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 or Dynamics 365.
  • Familiarity with standard costing, accruals, and general ledger processes.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Prior experience in high‑volume manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and quarterly cost accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare costing and financial analysis for new products; provide metrics used in product development decisions.
  • Lead costing request initiatives, including audits of costs, bills of materials (BOMs), and routing structures.
  • Support the annual review of inventory standard costs and assist in preparing annual labor and overhead rate updates.
  • Analyze month‑end results and inventory‑related general ledger accounts; deliver clear, actionable insights to management.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.
  • Monitor adherence to corporate accounting policies and processes; support operating locations in resolving accounting issues.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of accounting policies related to inventory and standard costing.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to complete accounting objectives and support broader company initiatives.
