About The Position

The Senior Corporate Security Specialist will provide administrative support for NWFCU's Physical Security operations. This position is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and ensuring the consistent implementation of established security and life safety protocols across multiple NWFCU facilities. Key responsibilities include managing the security officer program, which oversees access control for one or more locations, and supporting efforts to protect members, employees, tenants, visitors, and organizational assets. The role also serves as the primary security liaison, working closely with various business units to ensure alignment on security-related matters. Additionally, this position will lead, or support investigations related to security incidents, policy violations, and safety concerns, ensuring thorough documentation, resolution, and follow-up in coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the security field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
  • Proficient in using various security software to support assigned duties
  • Ability to plan work and organize materials and equipment for specific projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with effective interpersonal abilities
  • Maintains consistent performance under pressure, including time constraints or ambiguous situations
  • Basic operating knowledge of security equipment, including but not limited to: CCTV systems, cameras, panic buttons, and various types of locks and combinations
  • Capable of initiating and managing projects that may impact other departments or branches
  • Adaptable to change, able to multi-task, and apply practical problem-solving skills in standardized situations
  • Demonstrates organizational awareness and the ability to assess situations from a broader, enterprise-wide perspective
  • Works independently with minimal supervision or direction
  • Effectively manages time to meet objectives within reasonable deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters
  • Must be able to work M-F 7:30am-3:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary security focal point of contact for employees, tenants and visitors for all security requests for action, support or information requests
  • Request, print, review, and process various NWFCU, Tenants & Visitor badge requests
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for reporting security infractions: as well as regulators or auditors for security related matters
  • Facilitate the implementation of security awareness, training and education programs in accordance with requirements
  • Conduct and document security and fraud investigations, including incident reporting and follow-up
  • Facilitate and deliver security awareness, training, and education programs for branch staff and employees
  • Provide security related reports to management, as requested
  • Conduct regular audits of user access, safe locations, external physical security inspections, etc
  • Manage security vendor relationships. Serve as liaison to vendor while on credit union premises. Ensure vendor is meeting contractual obligations and service level agreements
  • Provide assistance to fire, medical, safety and general assistance emergency situations, as defined by the AVP of Physical Security and the emergency plans
  • Provide assistance with safety and security inspections of all Credit Union facilities, to include the Herndon compound and outside branches, and reports all deficiencies noted to AVP of Physical Security
  • Coordination and oversee all physical security service requests
  • Conduct and maintain regular quarterly and annual inspections and audits of all security devices
  • Conduct and maintain documentation of all external premises for potential threats to the CU
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
