Gunvor USA – Senior or Lead Corporate Accountant Job Summary: Experienced and detail-oriented accountant in the GUSA Corporate Accounting team. This role, based in Houston, reports directly to the Chief Accountant and supports core corporate accounting functions, monthly close, financial reporting, and income tax processes across US and Canadian jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will bring a continuous improvement mindset and strong analytical capabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting and direct tax
  • Advanced knowledge of US and Canadian federal and state/provincial income tax regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems a plus
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research and present findings to senior management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to mentor and support colleagues

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly close processes and prepare financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow)
  • Resolve and document complex technical accounting issues
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are well-documented and compliant
  • Serve as primary liaison with Gunvor’s global tax team
  • Calculate quarterly income tax provisions (US federal/state and Canadian federal/provincial)
  • Prepare and review tax forms (e.g., K-1, 1099s, 1042s) and government filings
  • Coordinate with external tax consultants and provide necessary workpapers for income tax returns
  • Act as key contact for internal and external auditors
  • Prepare PBC schedules and support interim/year-end audit activities
  • Ensure documentation and execution of key internal controls
  • Provide financial and analytical support to management
  • Assist and mentor team members in daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant or Controller
