The Senior Coordinator for Multicultural Programming at Westfield State University plays a vital role in promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging (DEIAB) initiatives across the campus. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Belonging, Inclusion, and Learning to implement programs that foster student engagement in social justice and cultural awareness. The coordinator is responsible for mentoring affinity groups, developing inclusive programming, and creating supportive environments for marginalized student populations.

  • Work closely with the Director of Belonging, Inclusion, and Learning to implement and support DEIAB initiatives across campus.
  • Ensure all programming aligns with and advances the DEIAB mission and values.
  • Act as the primary mentor and liaison for all affinity groups and their advisors on campus.
  • Coordinate the student Unity Council and provide leadership development training.
  • Establish and maintain intentional, accessible spaces for marginalized student groups.
  • Assist in creating environments for students to connect and share experiences.
  • Develop and assist in student campus leadership trainings throughout the year.
  • Support signature programs such as Unity Fest and cultural dances.
  • Mediate conflicts between student leaders and their organizations.
  • Manage and supervise after-hour events and meetings.
  • Chair campus-wide programs supporting cultural holidays and months.
  • Assist in New Student Orientation and other campus-sponsored events.
  • Participate in campus bias response and education team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Gender Studies, Education, or closely related field.
  • Experience in multicultural education, training, and advocacy.
  • Strong experience with mediation, conflict resolution, and problem solving.
  • Experience in building partnerships with campus departments and community groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting underrepresented and marginalized communities.
  • High level of energy, passion, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to set priorities and multi-task.
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Social Work, Counseling, or closely related field.
