The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of Control Systems as well as all maintenance and PLC/SCADA/HMI programming.
Troubleshoots, develops and implements process improvements.
Provides training to current and new Controls Engineers.
Interprets and understands specifications in order to meet customer requirements.
Communicates clearly and confidently to upper management.
Relates well to other team members and is able to mentor them as well as provide instruction as it relates to technical or team-related matters.
Demonstrates leadership by modeling behavior that shows commitment to continuous improvement.
Coaches, facilitates and assists personnel in development of competency in control functions.
Completes control system engineering and design and collaborates with vendors.
Selects appropriate instrumentation and control system components.
Provides PLC/SCADA/HMI programming for manufacturing machines.
Troubleshoots, installs and commissions products and systems.
Project management as assigned.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
Bachelor of science degree (B.S.) in engineering from an accredited college or university. Three or more years of related experience; or associate’s degree (A.A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year technical school with six or more years of related work experience. Candidates without a degree require related work or industry experience.
Experience with instrumentation and controls design as well as PLC/HMI programming.
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their associated controls.
Sound understanding of control system architectures and computer systems; as well as knowledge of PLC programs and ladder logic.
Experience with project management, covering initial concept/proposal, design, implementation, testing, start-up, and closeout.
Ability to learn and become proficient in our internal hardware and software systems.
Function specific RCRA training upon hire.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work both independently and with other employees as part of a team.
