About The Position

Storage Solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical/Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of automated material handling systems for customers across North America. This role plays a critical part in delivering complex automation projects, including electrical design, controls architecture, PLC programming, and on-site commissioning. The ideal candidate is a proactive, technically strong engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates closely with project managers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams throughout the full project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in standard design of relevant material handling equipment and general operational knowledge of distribution centers with a focus on automated warehouse technology.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Must understand industry engineering/design concepts and practices.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
  • Possess and maintain a high degree of safety awareness during the design phase.
  • Technical understanding and primary experience in the processing of projects.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Fast paced multi-tasker.

  • Solution-oriented thinking and strength in communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines.

  • Traveling as needed for project support. Overnight Travel up to 25% domestically for site visits, debug, commissioning and start-up.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in a comparable position is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Conveyor/Sortation Goods-To-Person, AS/RS, AGVs, AMRs Case & Piece Picking or Palletizing & Depalletizing Systems a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles.
  • Experience in implementing and commissioning automated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering for the implementation of projects within the automated material handling industry to meet each customer’s unique requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers on implementing the full project lifecycle including design drawings and layouts, interfacing with suppliers, developing installation packages, and supporting installation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while meeting project schedules and budgets.
  • Review customer specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Participate in design review and customer review meetings.
  • Supporting the project manager in technical clarifications with suppliers.
  • Conduct site inspections to validate proper installation of equipment (as needed).
  • Support supplier and subcontractor selections through quotation analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide mentoring to other team members within the department.
  • Support the continuous improvement of electrical engineering standard documentation and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Take ownership of the assigned Electrical Engineering responsibilities of a project to ensure success.
  • Participate in risk assessment meetings.
  • Develop electrical schematics and panel design using AutoCAD electrical.
  • Develop control system network topology and architecture.
  • Develop PLC ladder logic programming.
  • On-site testing, commissioning, startup and customer acceptance.
  • Industrial controls device configuration and setup.
