About The Position

This position is remote with some travel. Shermco Systems Integration is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer, which will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of control systems for various applications, ensuring efficient and safe operation by using automation, programming, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in control systems and startup/commissioning.
Must have a strong understanding of control theory, automation, and programming, with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex technical problems while paying close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy.
Must have experience with low voltage controls.
Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate in English via verbal and written methods and be comfortable and effective doing so directly to customers and co-workers.
Ability to work safely, and an eagerness to contribute to a safety-focused team.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools, and Experience with pipeline and/or oil and gas processing is considered a plus.

Must be flexible and willing to work out-of-town with regular overnight travel
Strong preference for individuals who are able and willing to demonstrate their personal commitment to Safety.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Must have a valid driver’s license and currently have (and be able to maintain) a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement control systems for various applications, including Network Architecture, Cause and Effect Diagram, Control Philosophy for the production of a complete automation and process control system.
Utilize knowledge of control theory, automation, and programming to create efficient and reliable systems.
Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and other control devices.
Develop and implement control algorithms and software.
Utilize graphical programming languages like Ladder Logic and FBD (Function Block Diagram).
Test and validate control systems to ensure they meet performance requirements.
Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues.
Implement solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
Install, configure, and test software systems on-site, ensuring they function according to specifications and customer needs, often collaborating with other specialists and clients.
Evaluate system performance and identifies areas for improvement.
Implement solutions to increase production efficiency and reduce downtime.
Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
Ensure that control systems are designed and implemented in a safe manner.
May be responsible for implementing safety protocols and procedures.
