We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a top-tier industrial automation company in Addison, TX! This leadership role is perfect for someone with excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills, a passion for enhancing business efficiency, and a drive to foster valuable partnerships. Our ideal candidate should possess a diverse engineering skill set, work independently, and act as the technical lead on projects while guiding junior engineers and technicians. This is an onsite role open to local candidates.

  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directed or as a leader of a team.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our customers requirements.
  • Development of a control system architecture, selecting the components to be used, detailing schematic diagrams and system documentation, programming controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V), programming the process visualization (HMI/SCADA).
  • Develop databases for archiving/displaying historical system data and implementing/commissioning the control system at the clients facility.
  • Design, detail, and implement a variety of fiber, wired and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
  • Develop project execution plans, work breakdown structures and associated budgets, task prioritization and scheduling, task ordering, time tracking and reporting, financial tracking and reporting, early problem identification, conflict management/resolution, leading and supporting a team, and attending project status meetings.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities of a project(s) up to $10M. This position is often responsible for ensuring the overall profitability of the project. Could also act as Project Manager on smaller projects.
  • Education: BS Degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science or equal experience.
  • Required: 8+ years of experience in Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, or General Manufacturing.
  • 2-3 years of recent in-depth experience in Emerson DeltaV.
  • Proficient in PLC programming.
  • Experience with PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms, including servers, virtual machines, networks, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk and PlantPAX, Aveva System Platform and Edge, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC, and TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of DCS hardware/software platforms, such as Emerson DeltaV or similar systems.
  • Solid understanding of instrumentation.
  • Proficient in networking, particularly Ethernet.
  • Ability to lead projects in a hands-on project engineering role, though not necessarily as a full-blown Project Manager.
  • Experience in client interaction.
  • Familiarity with Batch/Recipes, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, primarily local to the Dallas area.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Ability to design electrical schematics and control panels, including power distribution, while adhering to associated NEC references.
