Accountable for field engineering support to the Disneyland Resort and supporting departments, including engineering services for show, animation, and/or Audio-Visual related control systems. These services include planning, organizing, and leading teams in troubleshooting, problem resolution, system operational enhancements, system reliability improvements, and documentation. Must have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions. Respond to show control of urgencies resulting from Attraction downtimes at the Resort. This is a 30-month, entirely onsite Project Hire role based in Anaheim, CA, reporting to the Senior Manager of Sustaining Engineering.

Requirements

  • Show Control Systems troubleshooting experience with 2+ years in the amusement park industry or related industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge gained by experience in electronic control systems and signal processing, including familiarity with relays and programmable logic controllers.
  • Electrical motor controls including variable frequency drives, soft starts, and electric actuators.
  • Variety of industrial automation Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) including Beckhoff, Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.
  • CCTV hardware and software programming.
  • Animation hardware, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric methods.
  • National and California Electrical Code.
  • Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory certifications such as UL, TUV, ETL, etc.
  • Wiring and interconnect diagrams.
  • ANSI, ASTM, and IEEE standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Show Controls circuit design and/or troubleshooting at the printed circuit board (PCB) level.
  • Knowledge of wireless systems reliability/system integration.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of Sustaining projects.
  • Ensure electrical efforts comply with codes: IEEE, NFPA, ASTM, DOSH, NEC/CEC, etc.
  • Prepare sketches and details that reflect design requirements to facilitate the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Select systems and equipment that will satisfy design parameters, applicable codes, and standards.
  • Assist in preparing engineering proposals.
  • Produce specifications and develop scope of work documentation.
  • Track project status and Attraction downtime trends using tools like Splunk, Slack, ART, and ADAQ.
  • Monitor the show control system performance to ensure systems operate within established performance criteria.
  • Stay apprised of the latest developments in show control system technology, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct risk analysis and communicate findings to management.
  • Responsible for ensuring the overall success of show control function changes and adhering to documented change processes.
  • Ability to work during off-hours/3rd shift hours as needed to support projects/attractions.
