About The Position

The Senior Controls Engineer will work as part of an Agile team to develop embedded automotive control systems, focusing on software architecture and implementation for GM's next generation of electric vehicles. This role involves providing leadership and mentorship to junior developers, interfacing with architects, and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development and testing.

Requirements

  • Experience with writing and debugging C/C++ code and MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow and Rational Rhapsody.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of embedded software development experience.
  • Experience with developing embedded control software architecture.
  • Prior working experience with GM or other automotive software standards, test procedures, and build processes.
  • Experience with software configuration management processes and tools.
  • Development/testing experience on SIL/HIL or other virtual environments.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deliverable timing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development and Test-Driven Development.
  • Knowledgeable with software configuration management processes and tools.
  • Knowledgeable in Thermal Management control algorithm designs and diagnostic strategy.
  • Prior experience working in Jira, Agile/Scrum/SAFe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lean-agile leadership for controls and software architecture.
  • Interface with Controls & Software Architects to implement Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) requirements.
  • Provide leadership and technical mentorship to junior developers.
  • Create and implement features using Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Create and integrate software in MATLAB Simulink models or hand-coded C.
  • Create or modify unit test cases and multicomponent test cases for thorough software testing.
  • Explore and understand new thermal systems and requirements for controls and software development.
  • Leverage GM's virtual systems to verify and validate system behaviors and performance.
  • Participate in Agile Team and Agile ceremonies.
