About The Position

RSS is looking for a Senior Controller to join our team in 20+ states with 35+ locations. RSS represents full-service line striping and pavement marking companies providing high quality highway, roadway, and parking lot striping services throughout the United States. This position will be an in-person role and partner remotely with our corporate office in Omaha, NE on a regular basis. The position requires the ability to travel for approximately 20% of schedule, and capacity to manage multi-state staff and resources. The Senior Controller will report to the Director of Finance and is primarily responsible for ensuring a smooth and timely month-end close. It requires a hands-on approach, the ability to lead others in a team, and manage multiple competing priorities. The focus is on accuracy and attention to detail as the information is used by management and the corporate office to assess the results of the business in its financial statements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and financial practices and standards
  • Must have minimum 5+ years in a Controller position
  • 5+ years of public accounting and/or general ledger accounting experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • COINS (ERP) experience a plus
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Acquisition integration and onboarding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of the month-end closing process. This includes supporting and working with other team members regarding balance sheet accounts, accounts payable and customer invoicing.
  • Manage Accounting and Payroll departments for multiple locations
  • Participate and manage in the development of budgets, forecasts (weekly), inventory (monthly), operating plans, and long-term strategic plans.
  • Create and post general ledger entries for intercompany transactions, bank transactions, and payroll transactions related to benefits, taxes, processing fees, and other deductions.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial information including forecasting (weekly), monthly financial statements, annual budget, and ad hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Monitor the company's financial performance and accurately report monthly financial information.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Actively participate in corporate activities related to the annual audit, acquisition due diligence/integration, systems upgrades/enhancements, and other key initiatives.
