About The Position

The Senior Control and Automation Engineer is a pivotal role within Bechtel, responsible for the specification, design, development, and testing of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) or specific subsystems. This includes the Distributed Control System (DCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), and the process Fire and Gas System (FGS), along with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). The engineer will collaborate closely with project teams, including instrument, electrical, mechanical, and process engineers, to identify all process control and safety requirements, as well as system interfaces. This role is essential in ensuring that the ICSS is designed and implemented effectively to meet project specifications and safety standards. In this position, the engineer will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of automation work for control systems within a project or functional support group. They will provide functional oversight of the ICSS within the Control Systems Engineering Group and/or project group, ensuring that the design and execution align with Bechtel's work practices and procedures. The engineer will be responsible for the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of the ICSS scope of work, which includes large-scale process control systems, safety instrumented systems, and supporting telecommunications infrastructure. The role also involves developing system requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and making recommendations for the selection of the ICSS. Continuous interface with ongoing work is crucial, as the engineer will review and approve design basis, key drawings, and vendor schedules. They will conduct technical reviews and interface with project personnel to ensure compliance with project execution plans and engineering procedures. Additionally, the engineer will provide input to project proposals, facilitate technical discussions with third parties, and communicate complex technical issues to upper management. Mentoring and supervising engineers, scientists, and designers is also a key responsibility, ensuring their professional development through guidance and training.
