About The Position

Simmonds Precision is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our Motion Controls business unit, which designs and manufactures custom engineered, high power density Control Actuation Systems for military and aerospace applications.  In this role you will develop actuation control algorithms as an integral part of our systems engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in control system design and frequency domain analysis
  • Successful application of analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. degree in a related field of study
  • Experience developing physics-based models of actuation components
  • Experience with aerospace actuation systems
  • Experience with implementation and simulation of models and estimators in engineering computational environments such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience developing physics-based dynamic models for system analysis and design
  • Solid track record of achieving results
  • Outstanding cross discipline verbal and oral communication skills
  • A strong desire to work closely in a team environment to make a difference

Responsibilities

  • Apply control theory to the design, implementation, validation and verification of actuation control systems from concept through test and entry into service
  • Planning and execution of control system validation and verification
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and embedded software teams to implement and verify control algorithms
  • Participate in root cause determination and corrective actions related to production test and field issues
  • Rapid development of control algorithm solutions to emerging issues
