About The Position

Georgetown University is seeking a Senior Contract Officer to supervise and manage a team of Contract Officers and Managers. This role involves supporting more complex supplier contracts and guiding GU stakeholders through the contracts process with the goal of minimizing risk and liability in accordance with University policy and audit requirements. The Senior Contract Officer will support the operational side of non-capital contracts and regularly liaise with each Georgetown campus, including Main, Medical, Law, University Services, and GU-International campuses such as Doha, Qatar. This role may provide interim team support during leadership absences. Additionally, this role will be responsible for training, supervising, and providing professional development to Contract Managers and Officers to ensure team growth and accountability. The Senior Contract Officer will also build out yearly KPIs and team goals to guide the team’s customer service and process efficiency goals year over year. The position reports to the Executive Director of Procurement and will work with other members of Georgetown Procurement Services on annual review of policies and processes, conducting audits, and developing/delivering training materials. The Senior Contracting Officer will supervise and train the Contract team including Contract Officers, Managers, and Interns, and will regularly coordinate, meet, and collaborate with Strategic Sourcing, Payable Systems, and Accounts Payable to ensure process alignment and find efficiencies to support contract team delivery. The Senior Contracting Officer may be required to manage the duties of the Executive Director when they are out of the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 8+ years of experience in contract review, business operations, or a related area
  • 2+ years of demonstrated successful supervision of full-time employees
  • Ability to keep employees accountable while maintaining team morale, job satisfaction, and meeting KPIs
  • Ability to get to the root cause of problems quickly and find ways to resolve them, then taking these findings and making sustainable change/improvements
  • Expertise with procurement concepts, practices, and procedures, especially in the area of contracts and compliance
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines across varying stakeholder teams and interests
  • Proficiency in standard Google Suite, Microsoft Office products, virtual collaboration platforms and ERP systems (i.e. Zoom, Workday, Cognos, etc.)
  • Strong foundation to be self-motivated and work as part of a team
  • High attention to detail
  • Presentation and communication skills to present data and build relationships across various stakeholder groups; ability to train others in similar skillsets

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Juris Doctorate Degree
  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit working environment
  • Data Analytics including Tableau, Looker Studio, Python, etc.
