About The Position

In this role, you will directly contribute to the execution and management of decarbonization consulting projects that advance the development of future greenhouse gas-reducing building codes and appliance standards. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field (mechanical or electrical engineering preferred). Higher degrees such as a master’s or Ph.D. can substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
8+ years of relevant work experience.
Proven ability to contribute to complex projects with a problem-solving orientation that prioritizes client needs.
Highest ethical standards.
Strong ability to distill complex technical findings into accessible summaries, tailor content to diverse stakeholders, and maintain consistency and rigor across multi-section documents with multiple contributors.
Demonstrated project management experience, including strong organizational skills and experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams to manage timelines and deliverables.
Ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels within an organization.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Confidence, enthusiasm, humility, and discretion.
Willingness for periodic travel.
Desire and ability to work remotely.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
National, state, and local building energy code development or implementation (e.g., California Title 24, Part 6; Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS); ASHRAE 90.1; International Energy Conservation Code).
Federal and/or state appliance standards, test procedures, and specifications (e.g., DOE, California Title 20, ENERGY STAR).
Building performance standards.
Codes and standards for electric vehicle charging infrastructure or transportation electrification.
Research, testing, or standards development for water heating.
Research, testing, or standards development for motors and drives.
Experience with industrial process loads or industrial product energy efficiency measures.
Ability to travel up to 75% annually.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor for clients by providing pragmatic advice based on defensible data and analysis.
Manage and contribute to multiple projects, including technical research and analysis, client engagement, subcontractor management, and external stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities include:
Scoping and launching new projects.
Supporting primary and secondary research.
Procuring test equipment and arranging laboratory tests.
Supporting laboratory and field investigations.
Fostering coalition-building.
Supporting legal, regulatory, and policy reviews.
Develop and maintain budget forecasts and project schedules across multiple projects.
Coordinate research with state programs and independent entities.
Ensure high-quality deliverables, including spreadsheets with supporting calculations, memos, reports, and presentations.
Contribute to business development and proposal writing.
