The Senior Consultant in Healthcare Revenue Cycle works plays a key role in working with FTI teams in advising hospitals, health systems, and physician groups on strategies to optimize financial performance across the revenue cycle. This role involves leading assessments, identifying gaps, implementing process improvements, and delivering measurable outcomes in areas such as patient access, charge capture, billing and collections. The Senior Consultant also mentors junior consultants and collaborates with both FTI and client leadership to drive sustainable operational and financial improvements.

  • Work with FTI teams to conduct assessments of revenue cycle operations including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denial management, and collections.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce denials, and improve cash flow.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and recommendations to client executives and stakeholders.
  • Lead project workstreams, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to client staff and junior team members.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure that improvements are sustainable post-engagement.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to optimize the use of revenue cycle management systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in healthcare finance.
  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related business field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management and/or revenue cycle consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of revenue cycle functional areas and related processes and technologies.
  • This role requires travel to clients and FTI offices.
  • Must be willing to travel, travel requirements can be up to 20% based on client demands.
  • Proven track record of leading process improvement projects and achieving measurable results.
  • Familiarity with major EHR/RCM platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athena, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead client-facing discussions with executives and operational leaders.
  • Experience with relational database programs (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Access, etc.)
