About The Position

This is a remote position with periodic travel to AHP offices for meetings and training, plus occasional travel to grantee sites and conferences.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Tribal nations' histories, cultures, and contemporary issues in the United States
  • Understanding of Tribal sovereignty and government-to-government relationships
  • Proven experience building respectful, collaborative relationships with diverse Indigenous peoples and communities
  • Expertise in mental health, substance use disorders, treatment approaches (including cultural interventions), and Native wellness practices
  • Exceptional diplomacy and influence without direct authority
  • Independent project leadership across diverse contexts (TA sessions, strategic calls, meetings)
  • Strategic thinking with ability to identify needs, synthesize complex information, and develop solutions
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication for diverse audiences
  • Advanced training development and delivery using adult learning strategies
  • Skilled at drawing out stakeholder needs and facilitating problem-solving discussions
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional networks that advance organizational goals
  • Expert-level proposal writing, project management, and technical writing
  • Superior ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining responsiveness
  • Experience with diversity, equity and inclusion training and consultation
  • Masters degree in social work, behavioral health, public health, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience working directly with Tribal governments or organizations, combined with practical grant management and procurement experience.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • Experience working with Alaska Native Tribes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, consulting, support, and expertise to clients, TTA recipients, and other stakeholders as they roll out new programs, policies, or initiatives.
  • Serve as a facilitator for internal or external working meetings, and TA sessions, including development of purpose, agenda, scope, implementation methods, and evaluation.
  • Speak at events including conferences, webinars, and learning collaboratives around areas of expertise, including but not limited to working with Tribes and Native communities.
  • If assigned, lead delivery of large-scale training and technical assistance events (e.g., learning collaboratives, conferences), including, but not limited to engaging effectively with Tribal populations.
  • If assigned, maintain a portfolio of grantees, ensuring the grantees are making progress in their statements of work and implementation plans, are accountable to contract requirements, and are responsive to AHP requests.
  • Identify areas for needed content in print materials, large-scale and small-scale training, and technical assistance opportunities.
  • Assist with creating content for websites and/or training and technical assistance materials, especially to support staff in effectively working with Tribes and Native communities.
  • Collaborate with divisional leadership to identify training and technical assistance needs or opportunities for consulting and create content to address such needs.
  • Use subject matter expertise to provide real-time, on-the-spot consultation or resources to internal and external stakeholders with a fast turnaround.
  • Participate in strategic planning, prioritization, and new business development.
  • As requested, provide leadership in strategic planning support to AHP clients and internal initiatives and growth planning to expand AHP's Tribal community portfolio of work.
  • Bring ideas for internal consulting across projects to Program Directors to address needs and knowledge gaps; develop content to address the same.
  • Provide expertise by identifying gaps, reflecting problems, and proposing strategic solutions
  • Lead outreach and marketing calls, supporting account-based management teams
  • Serve as task lead in proposal creation for funding opportunities when assigned
