The American Red Cross is seeking a Senior Consultant, Humanitarian Services Finance. The work location for this exciting opportunity is flexible, and the successful candidate may be located anywhere in the US. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: This position will at first be a leader in finance to the soon-to-be enterprise-wide SharePoint clean-up project. The position will take on more special projects and will be responsible for running accurate finance reports on potentially highly complex topics with little background or information. The position will also be a leader in driving technology forward within HS finance including training others as well as advising on and implementing solutions including Python, Power BI, and possibly AI. Collect, analyze, and prepare recommendations for financial plans. Consult and advise all levels of business leaders of financial forecasts to make informed short and long - term financial decisions. May lead staff responsible for collecting and analyzing data. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Must be proficient in Python, Power BI, and excel.
  • May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout the Red Cross system.
  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
  • Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions.
  • Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time.
  • May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document highly complex financial analysis projects.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement advanced financial concepts for financial planning and control.
  • Provide monthly revenue and/or expense analyses and reports.
  • Monitor operating budget process and allocations. Serve as a subject matter expert on analysis to determine present and future performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and systems.
  • May lead staff responsible for collecting and analyzing data.
  • Drive technology solutions forward.
