Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Geomatics, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 15+ years experience in infrastructure surveying, with experience in track and rail infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with high accuracy surveying using Trimble and Leica field equipment.
  • Data processing proficient using Autodesk Civil 3D, StarNET, TBC, or similar.
  • Experience operating UAVs for survey applications including the possession of a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and onsite teams.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively and work independently.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in active rail corridors.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Physically able to carry survey equipment up to 50 lbs, and walk long distances on uneven terrain.
  • All applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States, be a resident, and preferably reside in Denver, Colorado or Fort Worth, Texas and willing to travel to be considered for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction, engineering and track specific survey activities across multiple project sites throughout the US, including layout, staking, control establishment, and as-builts for track, concrete and civil works.
  • Collect high-accuracy field measurements using GNSS, robotic total stations, rail trolley systems, and UAV platforms as required.
  • Document daily survey activities including control notes, sketches, photos, and field logs in accordance with company standards.
  • Establish, maintain, and verify horizontal and vertical control networks to support track geometry, civil works, grading, and alignment verification.
  • Travel extensively across the US to support project requirements across multiple states.
  • Deliver clean, validated datasets to support drafting, modeling, and reporting workflows.
  • Complete onsite field data checks and provide timely documentation and reporting as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, specifications, and construction QA/QC protocols.
  • Act as the primary onsite survey contact, communicating field progress, issues, and resolutions to internal stakeholders and project teams.
  • Actively participate in the advancement of Tri Innovations’ health and safety program.
  • Follow applicable safety requirements in active rail corridors, including FRA and site-specific safety expectations.
  • Maintain survey equipment, ensuring proper storage and calibration, reporting maintenance needs.
