Another Source's client, Sabey Construction, is recruiting a Senior Construction Project Engineer to join their team in Austin, TX. This is a full-time, direct hire on-site role. Learn more about Sabey Corporation here: https://sabey.com/about/ About the Role: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Sr. Project Engineer assists in ensuring that projects are completed within scope, on schedule and within budget. This position will work closely with the construction staff, owner, and design team in reviewing plans, technical documents and answering questions regarding the project scope, budget, and schedule. The Sr. Project Engineer will oversee and manage RFI's, issues from contractors, and assist in the development of cost estimates and schedules. The ideal candidate will be expected to have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field. Candidate must be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and possess a strong background in construction. Experience working with General Contractors, particularly on data center projects is essential. The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $95,335 - $143,003.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of construction project plans and specifications required
  • 3+ years of construction experience required
  • Proficiency in construction management/scheduling software and thorough knowledge of computer software applications preferred
  • Experience with data center construction projects or similar critical facility/complex infrastructure construction projects
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite and strong proficiency in Procore project management software
  • Experience preparing and processing Method of Procedures (MOPs)
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language - must be able to demonstrate strong written and oral comprehension and expression
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Working knowledge of construction engineering best practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changes
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn and utilize AI tools and technology

Responsibilities

  • Lead estimating/purchasing efforts in the final development of the various bid packages, including receiving and leveling bids
  • Assist the Superintendent(s) in developing and maintaining the baseline construction schedule
  • Coordinate and track special inspection documentation
  • Create and manage RFI's from the field to the architect/engineer of record
  • Maintain, update, and distribute project plans and records
  • Manage processing submittals from subcontractors/vendors to the architect/engineer of record for approval
  • Establishing and maintaining all project files relating to subcontracts, bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built and closeout documents.
  • Assist the Project Manager/owner in procuring building permits
  • Facilitate and document weekly project meetings and distribute notes accordingly
  • Review change orders from subcontractors for scope and price, prepare and present them to the Project Manager
  • Provide field support to construction superintendents to ensure contract and quality compliance
  • Interact with owner and clients
