About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Configuration Management (CM) Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will lead and mature configuration management for a large, globally distributed mission system with a mix of enterprise infrastructure, cloud-hosted services, and worldwide networks. This role is responsible for establishing disciplined CM practices that improve operational reliability, deployment repeatability, auditability, and scalability across multiple technical domains and environments.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance (mandatory).
  • Proven expertise in configuration management across infrastructure, cloud, network, and CI/CD domains.
  • Strong knowledge of CM tools and practices, including GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines, VMware/vSphere, and AWS environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in configuration management, systems engineering, or a related role.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%.
  • Must possess an active Passport or obtain one immediately upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with network configuration management tools and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with compliance requirements for security, logging, and access control.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the CM technical lead responsible for strategy, governance, and execution across infrastructure, application, and network domains.
  • Define and maintain configuration baselines for hardware, software, firmware, cloud resources, and documentation across multiple environments (development, test, staging, production, and lab).
  • Establish and operate the CM lifecycle, including baseline creation, change requests, implementation, verification, and release documentation.
  • Own CM practices for GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines, ensuring traceability from requirements to deployments.
  • Baseline and control configurations for VMware/vSphere and AWS environments, driving adoption of Infrastructure as Code.
  • Define CM standards and processes for network devices and services, including routing, VPNs, firewalls, and switching.
  • Operate change control workflows, including impact analysis, technical reviews, and post-change verification.
  • Perform periodic configuration audits, identify discrepancies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain controlled updates for documentation, including diagrams, “as-built” configurations, and version inventories.
  • Coordinate with Security to ensure baselines align with compliance requirements, including hardening, logging, and access control.
