About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Computer Network Administrator to support our HHS OIG IT Service Desk and Engineering Services Program in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in enterprise networking, data center management, and lead operations and maintenance support. This role blends hands-on engineering with high-level architecture, planning, and troubleshooting across a complex, dynamic environment. What you'll do: Assist in network modernization projects, operations and maintenance, performance tuning, and infrastructure upgrades. Analyze network, server, and application logs to identify root causes and corrective actions. Manage data center operations including rack layout, power/cooling optimization, and cable-plant organization. Coordinate site cabling activities to maintain structured and efficient layouts. Oversee Move, Add, Change, Disconnect (MACD) activities, equipment decommissions, and site clean-ups. Partner with system and security teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and scalable solutions. Provide technical support and oversight for regional centers and remote sites. Perform network device upgrades, remediation, and configuration management. Troubleshoot complex network issues to ensure high availability and performance. Implement, manage, and support Wi-Fi systems across multiple locations. Strong exposure to change management and control. Maintain accurate network documentation and inventory records. Requirements

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Strong background in network design, administration, and troubleshooting across LAN, WAN, wireless and MPLS environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco equipment, vendor management and software.
  • Expertise with SolarWinds management.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and operate effectively in high-visibility, mission-critical settings.
  • Experience analyzing network/system data and developing actionable remediation plans.
  • Ability to lead technical bridges and produce root cause analysis and after action reports.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must reside close to Washington DC for possible in office days.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in IT or related field.
  • Experience supporting HHS, CMS, NIH, or other federal health agencies.
  • CCNA certification (or higher).
  • Hands-on experience with: Palo Alto, F5, Cisco ISE, VMware AirWatch, Microsoft Intune, Splunk, SIEM, and CDM.
  • Knowledge of data center management, including cooling systems, structured cabling (industry certification preferred), and lifecycle activities like MACD and decommissioning.
