What you'll be doing Develop models to extend voice support to languages other than English. Design and implement language support for new Roku features and functionality. Collect and analyze spoken and written language data to improve our models, capturing a wide variety of expressions in rule-based or machine-learned systems. Maintain existing systems, recognizing issues and applying the right tools to debug and solve problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Linguistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5 years progressive experience in position, as a NLM Engineer, NLP Engineer, Speech and Language Analyst, Analytical Linguist, or related occupation.
• Will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Linguistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field plus 3 years of experience in position, as a NLM Engineer, NLP Engineer, Speech and Language Analyst, Analytical Linguist, or related occupation.
• Must have at least 2 years of prior work experience in each of the following:
• Spoken natural language applications
• Core linguistics: semantics, syntax, morphology, phonology, phonetics, discourse and dialogue
• Rule-based grammars and machine learning for NLP
• Cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing large natural language data sets
• Scripting programming languages
• Version control and collaborative software development
• Telecommuting permitted: may work at various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.
