As a Senior Component Design Engineer for gas turbine gears, bearings, shafts, and seals you will be part of the global Turbomachinery Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. You will develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting-edge aerospace functional and physical requirements and also exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. Within your assigned propulsion system program, you'll be responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering high-performance gas turbine transmission systems that push the envelope with performance, life, and efficiency.

  • Develop and deliver new component designs for high-performance gas turbine gears, bearings, shafts, and seals.
  • Create design concepts and optimize them to a final definition.
  • Prepare technical presentations and documents.
  • Perform dimensional analyses and support the creation of drawings.
  • Deliver hardware for validation and release of hardware to production.
  • Perform strength and lifing analyses for gas turbine components.
  • Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support the supply chain in procuring hardware and review supplier production method documentation.
  • Lead investigations of in-service and/or development hardware issues including failure analysis.
  • Share findings with the global turbomachinery team in accordance with export control regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of mechanical design experience, OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, analysis, and verification of complex aerospace mechanical components and/or systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in progressing designs/changes through a gated design review process.
  • 6+ years of experience with aerospace power transmission components, including gears, rolling element bearings, shafts, and seals.
  • Expertise in dimensional tolerance stack-ups and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of gas turbine subsystems and components and their function and operation.
  • Expertise in Siemens NX, Siemens Teamcenter, Microsoft Excel.
