About The Position

Serves as the Senior Compliance Engineer help driving certification strategy and execution across Fluence Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products, ensuring alignment with global safety and regulatory standards. Leads UL 9540 compliance and certification efforts as directed by Certification and Compliance leadership including standard interpretation, certification planning, test execution, and closure of findings through design and documentation updates. Provide technical and execution support for additional certification programs including UL 9540A, UL 1973, LSFT, NFPA 855 and related industry standards. outcomes. Partner with cross-functional engineering teams, test labs, and certification agencies to coordinate all relavant certification and compliance test efforts including for on time execution. As needed support fire safety and system-level hazard evaluation activities by contributing to thermal runaway testing strategy, test instrumentation planning, and interpretation of UL 9540A / LSFT results. Support certification gap analyses efforts for new product designs, supplier changes, and engineering revisions, identifying compliance risks early and driving mitigation actions to prevent schedule or certification delays. Assist engineering teams to drive technical resolution of test failures through structured root cause investigations, corrective action definition, and verification of engineering fixes. Collaborate with program management teams to align on certification schedules, define test KPIs, and provide timely communication of risks, progress, and certification readiness status. Participate new standard development discussions and external technical forums related to BESS safety and compliance, representing Fluence. Provide technical mentorship and guidance across the organization by help developing internal best practices and raising Fluence’s overall certification capability and execution maturity.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor / Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, and minimum 3 years of compliance engineering experience.
  • Proven technicalexperience, including managing cross-functional product compliance projects, providing mentorship to junior level team members.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on identifying risks and optimization.
  • Experience with energy storage safety standards and regulations, including UL 9540, UL 9540A, LSFT, UL 1973, NFPA 855, and related codes and standards
