About The Position

Our client, a highly respected insurance carrier, is seeking a Senior Complex Claims Adjuster to manage a portfolio of highly complex, litigated claims with significant coverage issues . This role requires deep technical expertise in policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and the management of coverage litigation , including declaratory judgment actions. The ideal candidate will be a trusted technical resource capable of handling nuanced claims involving multiple policies, jurisdictions, and substantial financial exposure.

Requirements

7+ years of complex claims experience with an insurance carrier
Attorney's are encouraged to apply
Demonstrated expertise in coverage analysis and coverage litigation
Proven experience handling declaratory judgment actions and disputed coverage matters
Strong understanding of insurance policy forms and coverage lines (e.g., GL, Auto, Excess/Umbrella, Professional Liability, or Specialty lines)
Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage highly complex matters independently with limited oversight
Active adjuster license(s) or ability to obtain required licenses

Juris Doctorate (JD) a plus!

Responsibilities

Independently handle complex and high-exposure claims involving disputed or intricate coverage issues
Perform detailed coverage analysis, including interpretation of policy language, endorsements, exclusions, and conditions
Draft and issue coverage position letters, reservation of rights letters, and denial letters
Manage coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions, in coordination with internal leadership and outside coverage counsel
Direct and oversee defense and coverage counsel, including litigation strategy, budgeting, and case evaluation
Evaluate exposure, establish appropriate reserves, and present high-level authority requests
Analyze and address multi-policy, multi-insured, and multi-jurisdictional issues
Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as required
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to claims staff on complex coverage matters
Partner with underwriting, legal, and risk management teams to ensure consistent interpretation of coverage positions
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best practices
