Based in our Frisco, TX location, the right candidate will have the opportunity to manage several critical commodities in the NCS spend portfolio. This position requires the candidate to be available to work in-person in Frisco, TX Job Summary: We are seeking a strategic and accomplished Senior Commodity Manager with extensive experience in metals, metal fabrication, valves, and fittings category management, as well as a strong record of delivering cost savings and supporting EBITDA growth. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of global sourcing experience and have managed spend of at least $50 million. The Senior Commodity Manager will be responsible for overseeing these critical commodities to enhance cost efficiency, drive innovation, mitigate risk, avoid inflationary pressures, support new product development, and strengthen supply chain resilience. This role involves developing and implementing effective global sourcing strategies, owning the overall category strategy, optimizing supplier performance, managing costs, and generating long-term value. The position requires close collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance, as well as regular interaction with manufacturing facilities and global suppliers.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in metals sourcing, metal fabrication, and/or valves and fittings
  • Proven experience managing large, complex spend portfolios ($50M–$75M)
  • Strong global supplier management and negotiation experience
  • Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing, cost modeling, and contract management.
  • Hands‑on experience with scrap metal valuation and recovery programs
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or a technical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications: CPIM, CPM, CQE, CSCP, CPSM, or CSCM.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in global sourcing, with a proven track record in managing a spend responsibility of at least $75million.
  • Experience across multiple industries with a deep understanding of market dynamics and sourcing best practices.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Applicable experience with eRFx platform (e.g., Krinati or Ariba Sourcing) involving eRFP’s and eAuctions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute multi-year commodity strategies that drive cost savings and inflation avoidance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with strong Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in sourcing and procurement software and ERP systems. Includes but not limited to Tableau, Blumor, Power BI, and NetSuite.
  • Able to travel a minimum of 20% domestically and occasionally outside of the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of P2P (procure-to-pay) and its function within ERP systems; preferably NetSuite.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage $50M–$75M annual spend across metals, fabricated components, valves, and fittings.
  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies across North America, Asia, and other sourcing regions.
  • Lead sourcing events, RFQs, negotiations, and contract administration.
  • Build and maintain a multi‑year savings funnel aligned to business objectives.
  • Drive Value Engineering / Value Analysis (VE/VA) initiatives with Engineering and Operations
  • Implement and manage scrap metal recovery programs to maximize value across manufacturing plants.
  • Leverage metal indexes and market intelligence to manage pricing, inflation, and deflation.
  • Apply deep knowledge of metal grades, alloys, and specifications to sourcing decisions.
  • Establish and manage supplier inventory programs, including: Consignment
  • VMI
  • Safety stock and min/max agreements
  • Drive supplier performance through KPIs, working capital optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and product development teams, to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in sourcing initiatives and projects like VAVE to ensure successful execution.
  • Conduct ideation sessions across multiple business units.
  • Provide peer-to-peer leadership.
