The Senior Commissioning Engineer at FST Technical Services plays a crucial role in the Commissioning Division, focusing on quality assurance during the design, construction, and post-acceptance phases of building projects, particularly data centers. This position involves ensuring that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems are designed, installed, and tested according to client requirements and design intent.

  • Complete office assignments and manage time and expenses.
  • Conduct in-field installation validation and prepare field observation reports and meeting notes.
  • Perform functional performance testing and on-site/factory witness testing.
  • Write reports and meeting notes, and review submittals and design documentation.
  • Execute target billable hours and manage tasks within budgeted time.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and assist the construction team in solving technical issues.
  • Interpret contract documents to identify scope gaps and maximize client value.
  • Support the Team Leader in coordinating weekly staff scheduling and training team members.
  • Participate in and lead company-wide safety and training programs.
  • Expand relationships with existing clients to support revenue and quality assurance goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in HVACR, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in commissioning or 7+ years in maintenance, construction, or engineering controls.
  • Experience in the data center industry is preferred.
  • 5+ years managing equipment interconnectivity including pumps, fans, motors, and building automation systems.
  • Proficient in reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and identifying project scope gaps.
  • Ability to independently solve complex problems and work effectively in a team.
  • Certifications such as EIT, ACP, CEM, OSHA 30, or other relevant safety/workplace certifications.
  • Active involvement in trade associations.
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
