About The Position

The Senior Commissioning Engineer (CX) is a key member of the post-sales Engineering group within the Electronic Security Systems (ESS) team, serving as lead engineer on commercial & federal design projects. The CX supports programming and commissioning project lifecycles, from initial sales concepts after design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Acting as a technical resource, the CX engineer ensures client and system requirements are met and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions. The role is supported by Solutions Architects and Team Supervisor, with guidance provided by the Director of ESS Engineering. The CX will hold both primary and supporting responsibilities on complex ESS projects and reports directly to the Director of ESS Engineering.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 5-7 years’ experience as a Commissioning Engineer in an Electronic Security environment
  • Proven experience leading engineering efforts within ESS domains such as access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, project engineering processes, programming and commissioning processes, and field-to-office feedback loops.
  • Skilled in process improvement methodologies, technical governance, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage internal teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, and drive strategic improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead engineering teams in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating enterprise-level technology training.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on operational efficiency and documentation quality.
  • Must be able to function in loud and professional environments.
  • Must be able to function in construction environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong Security Systems, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in ESS systems design, integration, or engineering required.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Lenel, CCure, DMP, Honeywell, Brivo, Milestone, ExacqVision, Eagle Eye, Axis, and Hanwha.
  • Industry certifications in access control or video surveillance (e.g., Lenel, Milestone, CCure 9000, DMP etc.) are a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise-level networking and IP-based ESS system architecture.
  • Experience with Bluebeam
  • Experience managing multi-discipline technical teams and supporting regional or enterprise-scale project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-deployment testing and validation of electronic security systems to ensure readiness for field deployment.
  • Perform quality reviews of security drawings and documentation to support accurate and efficient installation.
  • Complete site surveys and captured field conditions using Bluebeam to inform design and installation activities.
  • Configure security hardware, including assigning camera IP addresses, updating access control board firmware, uploading Cisco switch configurations, and programming door devices within access control software.
  • Diagnose and resolved issues with cameras, access-controlled doors, and network switches to maintain system performance.
  • Configure security intrusion systems, DMP and Bosch environments.
  • Develop and/or maintain ACS, VSS, IDS programming matrix documents that are used for field and system functionality.
  • Apply drawing markups in Bluebeam and maintained detailed programming sheets for device configuration and tracking.
  • Lead system commissioning efforts in collaboration with customer testing representatives to verify full system functionality.
  • Manage concurrent project tasks while maintaining timelines, documentation accuracy, and technical quality.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to stakeholders through both written and verbal channels
  • Occasional travel to client sites is required to resolve project escalations and provide customer consultation. 25-50% Travel.
