We are seeking a high-level HVAC Estimator to drive the expansion of our Northwest HVAC Construction Department. This role is not just about counting takeoffs; it is a strategic position focused on capturing $4M growth in annual revenue. You will lead bidding efforts for complex institutional and industrial projects, specifically focusing on healthcare systems and mission-critical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years in commercial/industrial HVAC estimating, specifically within the PNW market.
  • Proven track record in Healthcare and Mission-Critical industrial environments.
  • High level proficiency in a MS Office environment.
  • Deep understanding of hydronic systems, VFDs, and electrification-based HVAC retrofits.
  • Deep knowledge of complex hydronic systems, airside equipment, chillers, and system integration. For data centers, proficiency in CRAC/CRAH units and cooling tower configurations is standard.
  • The ability to interpret multi-layered Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings to identify potential spatial conflicts before they reach the field.
  • Familiarity with Oregon Energy Codes, OSHPD/OAR healthcare requirements, and LEED sustainability standards.
  • The ability to look at a design and propose alternative materials or layouts (like using the fabrication shop for skids) that reduce costs without sacrificing performance.
  • Creating accurate "order of magnitude" pricing from incomplete schematic designs or simple narratives—crucial for securing design-build work.
  • Identifying "non-standard" work conditions, labor productivity factors in the PNW market, and supply chain lead times for long-lead items like chillers or custom AHUs.
  • Explaining complex mechanical solutions to non-technical stakeholders or GCs in a way that emphasizes ROI and reliability.
  • Closing the gap between vendor quotes and project budgets while maintaining strong regional supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Market Capture:Develop and execute competitive bids for Institutional Healthcare (OHSU/Providence), Data Centers, and large-scale Commercial opportunities.
  • Technical Value Engineering: Identify and capture "scope creep" opportunities during the bidding phase.
  • Pipeline Management:Manage a high-volume pipeline of 30+ active opportunities, ensuring precision in estimating and opportunity management.
