About The Position

The role will act as the primary resource after credit approval to facilitate the loan through settlement including general administrative functions, relationship manager and client correspondence, due diligence review, coordination with bank counsel, and document delivery. Works to settle new and modified commercial loans and complete due diligence in a timely manner. Ensure that the loans are settled according to credit approval and Bank policy and that they adhere to state and federal lending regulations to reduce the risk of financial loss to the Bank. The role will understand client needs and engage professionally and proactively with clients, attorneys, and all third parties to ensure an efficient and effective fulfillment process, understanding various risks associated with closing and documentation of commercial loans and working to mitigate identified risks. This position is remote within the Fulton Bank footprint (DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA).

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: general studies. (Required)
  • 5 or more years paralegal or equivalent related to legal review of commercial loan documentation. (Required)
  • 3 or more years experience with commercial lending functions, which could include commercial and industrial loans, agricultural loans, small business administration loans, or commercial real estate loans. (Required)
  • Understanding of when and how changes to a deal need credit approval along with a clear knowledge about attorney closing processes (Required)
  • Able to multi-task, problem solve and efficiently manage time (Required)
  • Motivated team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills (Required)
  • Reputation for responsiveness and customer focused mindset (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: business, administration or related. (Preferred)
  • 5 or more years experience with attorney closings, review of commercial loan documents, and interaction with attorney closing transactions. (Preferred)
  • 5 or more years customer service. (Preferred)
  • Paralegal certification. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of complex due diligence materials relevant in loan transactions (Preferred)
  • Able to review and understand corporate legal documents including formation documents and entity agreement documents (Preferred)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook and nCino programs (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough due diligence on the parties and collateral that are a part of each commercial loan and ensures that all required information is obtained and reviewed, all internal coordination is completed, and the approval assumptions and conditions are met.
  • Completes review of entity formation and organizational legal documents to validate and ensure appropriate parties are included in loan documents.
  • Coordinates with bank counsel to review outside counsel documentation ensuring compliance with approved underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory standards for all states.
  • Prepares loan documents using the bank's loan documentation program.
  • Reviews loan approvals and internal systems for critical information to understand the transaction.
  • Reviews bank counsel documents to ensure documents accurately reflect the internal credit approval for the transaction.
  • Ensures alignment with the bank's loan origination system.
  • Works directly with customers, relationship managers, credit, and other internal teams.
  • Partners closely with outside counsel on all aspects of the loan transaction.
  • Communicates professionally to other third parties including attorneys, insurance, and title companies to ensure all documentation has been collected and reviewed.
  • Conducts due diligence on loan parties, collateral, and other pertinent approval requirements, including corporate and other entity documentation, searches, title, and insurance.
  • Prepares and monitors internal closing checklists as well as attorney checklists for assigned loans.
  • Reviews loan documentation prepared by counsel to ensure bank approval and guidelines are followed and addresses any discrepancies between attorney documentation and bank requirements.
  • Serves as a resource for counsel to ensure bank requirements are met.
  • Meets service level agreements (SLAs) with all external and internal customers.
  • Proactively manages daily activity, independently prioritizes multiple simultaneous transactions (10 or more).
  • Organize items for settlement, prepare and approve settlement and disbursement instructions and provide funding instructions to centralized funding team.
  • Assists lending staff with the resolution of documentation issues and other procedural matters.
