About The Position

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient – All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation. Requirements

• National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders upon hire or, National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association upon hire or, National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association upon hire or, National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association upon hire or, National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
• 1 year - CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree - Medical Record Technology.
• Coursework/Training - Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.
• 3 years - Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
