About The Position

Senior CNC Machinist Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Machinist to support machining operations within our manufacturing facility, producing parts used in the production of prosthetic medical devices. This hands-on role focuses on expert setup, operation, troubleshooting, and execution of machining processes. A strong understanding of G-code, tooling behavior, machining strategies, and precision setup is essential. Candidates may specialize in: · CNC Lathes (including live tooling) · CNC Mills (3-, 4-, or 5-axis machining centers) · Both disciplines We welcome applicants experienced in either machining path, provided they bring senior-level mastery, professionalism, and leadership capabilities. This is a first shift position Monday - Friday $22-27 per hour + overtime

Requirements

  • 5+ years CNC machining experience in lathes OR mills.
  • Ability to perform complex setups and interpret prints.
  • Strong understanding of G-code (execution only).
  • Proficiency with inspection tools and GD&T.
  • Experience coaching or leading machinists.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on HAAS machines (UMC mills, DS/ST lathes).
  • Experience with live‑tool lathes.
  • Experience with 5‑axis milling.
  • Experience with Swiss / screw machines.
  • Exposure to automation/robotic tending.
  • Background in high‑tolerance environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced setups within your primary discipline:
  • Lathe: CNC turning centers, live-tool lathes, driven tooling, secondary milling operations.
  • Mill: 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers, multi-face setups.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and machining requirements.
  • Run existing CNC programs, adjusting offsets, tool wear compensation, and making safe minor G-code edits.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, probes, and workholding solutions.
  • Diagnose machining challenges such as finish issues, tool wear, vibration, or dimensional discrepancies.
  • Mentor machinists and operators.
  • Assist with workflow coordination, training, and process improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
  • Support prototype builds, first-article runs, and production machining.
  • Perform inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision tools.
  • Ensure parts meet all dimensional and finish requirements.
  • Follow and enforce safety procedures and 5S standards.
  • Maintain accurate setup sheets and documentation.
