About The Position

A Manufacturing Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools (such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines) to produce precision metal parts and components. The role involves reading blueprints, adjusting machinery for specific production runs, and ensuring that products meet exact specifications.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience as a machinist or in a similar manufacturing role is typically preferred.
  • On-the-job training may be provided, especially for specific machine types or company-specific processes.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Continuing education to learn new techniques as they emerge.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Degreed or certificate CNC programmer.
  • Associate's degree in engineering, or programming preferred.
  • Certification in Mastercam software is desirable.
  • Prior experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine tools, such as CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, multi-axis and grinders, to produce high-precision parts and components.
  • Edit and trouble shoot basic NC program and Master Cam
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the required machine settings, tooling, and production processes.
  • Operate machines to manufacture parts with high accuracy, ensuring dimensions and tolerances are met within specified limits.
  • Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges) to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling and make necessary adjustments to machines to accommodate different materials and production needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process to maintain production flow.
  • Keep detailed records of production runs, materials used, and quality control checks.
  • Report any issues with machine performance, production delays, or quality concerns.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to industry safety regulations and report hazards immediately.
  • Work closely with engineers, quality inspectors, and other machinists to meet production goals and ensure product quality.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the manufacturing process.
