About the position
AvidXchange is a dynamic and innovative technology-driven B2B payments organization seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Application Security Engineer to join our team. As an Application Engineer embedded within our Agile development teams, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our applications, systems, and data. While working closely with cross-functional Agile teams, you will report directly to the Information Security Application Security Team to act as a liaison and subject matter expert aligning efforts across the broader security strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and implement security controls within the company’s cloud infrastructure to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
- Review architectures, develop standards, and participate in design sessions for cloud products and cloud infrastructure services.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, manage cloud security risks, and develop cloud security metrics.
- Cross-functionally collaborate with technology teams to identify and remediate security issues.
- Provide guidance on security strategies, designs, processes, and technologies within individual cloud environments and for inter-cloud integration.
- Participate in incident response and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Provide guidance to product and technology teams on cloud security best practices.
Requirements
- Progressive, practical information security experience with focus on cloud platforms, container orchestration, automation, product design and operation.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud security, networking, and system administration.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container security.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools, serverless architectures.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with cloud-native security tools such as AWS GuardDuty, Azure Security Center.
- Strong technical aptitude, genuine 'ambassador and practitioner' interest in cybersecurity and technology, problem solver attitude.
- Experience working with SaaS solutions and software development, preferably in a regulated B2B environment.
- Ability to think critically and address complex security challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work well within a team and across departments to achieve common security goals.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving security threats and changing project requirements.
- Capability to lead and mentor junior team members and peers.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset in identifying potential security risks and implementing preventive measures.
- Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
