About The Position

The Senior Cloud Security Engineer is a technical leadership role focused on defining and implementing cloud security technology direction, standards, and policies across General Motors' business units. This position is responsible for building and maintaining the cloud security posture, integrating security into DevSecOps processes, and automating controls to ensure a secure cloud environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a Security function.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical IT degree.
  • Programming/Scripting ability.
  • Public Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of Cyber Defense operations for cloud infrastructure.
  • DevSecOps experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead a high-performing team.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to assess problems and develop resolutions.
  • Ability to recommend process improvements and drive change throughout the organization.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IAC) experience (ARM/Bicep, Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in a Security function.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical IT degree.
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
  • Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate certification.
  • Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Secure Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Solutions covering Identity, Networking, Storage, and Containers.
  • Implement cloud security controls in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Provide technical leadership to execution teams for development and integration.
  • Stay updated on new security technology and competitive products, defining GM's direction.
  • Communicate and support common best practices among the Cyber Security community.
  • Participate in hiring, develop technical questionnaires, review resumes, and conduct interviews.
  • Define and lead Cyber Security strategy for new technology and significant improvements.
  • Build cloud governance and specify Cybersecurity requirements for major engineering projects.
  • Exercise technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel.
  • Deploy Microservices and Containers (AKS).
