Senior Cloud Platform Engineer
About The Position
As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Cloud Platform Engineering team, focusing on a specific technical domain or initiative. This role involves collaborating with multiple scrum teams, engineering managers, and architects to deliver a robust, well-architected, and principled technology platform. You will apply deep knowledge and hands-on experience in Azure Infrastructure and networking, systems administration/engineering, and scripting with Infrastructure As Code using ARM and Terraform. Key responsibilities include owning the design, implementation, and execution of the next-generation cloud platform, designing cloud platform solutions that adhere to cloud-native principles, and leveraging hands-on experience in designing and engineering Azure services. You will also be responsible for designing and deploying enterprise-scale solutions, conducting technology investigations to expand the knowledge base of current and emerging technologies, and identifying new business opportunities. Additionally, you will act as a liaison with project teams on cloud technologies and solutions, communicate architecture guidelines and technical details to diverse audiences, lead virtual teams, and foster strong working relationships while considering regional cultural nuances. Telecommuting is permitted per company policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Science or a related technical field; plus 5 years of relevant hands-on technology experience
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, in Computer Science or a related technical field; plus 3 years of relevant hands-on technology experience
- Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure technologies and services
- Working experience with global azure deployments
- Working experience implementing Azure Infrastructure solutions and Azure Networking
- Working experience with highly segmented networks in public and private clouds
- Working experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies in Azure
- Demonstrated solid communication, documentation and troubleshooting skills
- Proven innovative approach to work, constantly looking to upgrade the system to more efficient and effective new technologies and processes
- Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Responsibilities
- Be part of Cloud Platform Engineering for a technical domain or initiative, working with multiple scrum teams, engineering managers and architects to deliver a well-architected, principled technology platform
- Apply deep knowledge and hands on implementation experience on Azure Infrastructure and networking as well as hands on experience with systems administration/engineering, Azure networking, and scripting with Infrastructure As Code using ARM, Terraform
- Own the design/implementation/execution of the next gen cloud platform and will design cloud platform solutions honoring cloud native principles
- Leverage hands on experience designing and engineering Azure services
- Design and deploy enterprise-scale solutions
- Perform technology investigations to develop and maintain the knowledge base of current leading edge and developing technologies with the goal of using the knowledge to identify emerging business opportunities and in support of existing business programs
- Be the liaison with project teams on cloud technologies and solutions
- Communicate Architecture guidelines and technical details to technical and non-technical audiences
- Lead efforts of virtual teams
- Understand regional cultural considerations and form tight working relationships
