About The Position

PeopleConnect is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to operate, scale, and optimize our existing cloud infrastructure in production environments. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role centered on reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency at scale. You will partner closely with software engineering, data, and security teams to ensure our cloud platforms are stable, observable, and resilient. This role emphasizes operational excellence and continuous improvement rather than greenfield architecture ownership. This is an office-based role with a hybrid schedule, including one flexible work-from-home day per week, based in our San Diego office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or SRE roles
  • Strong hands-on experience operating production environments on Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong experience with Cloudflare, including DNS, CDN, WAF, and bot management
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience running containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity concepts
  • Proven experience supporting high-availability, production systems at scale
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong operational troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across teams
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and execution-focused

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and continuously improve existing cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code
  • Manage and scale production workloads running on Google Cloud Platform
  • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, automated deployments
  • Operate and support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of production systems
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting to support strong observability
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident follow-ups
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
  • Partner with application, data, and security teams to support infrastructure needs
  • Apply and reinforce operational best practices, standards, and documentation
  • Identify opportunities for performance, reliability, and cost optimization
  • Contribute to initiatives that support team and organizational success
