At Bayer we’re visionaries, driven to solve the world’s toughest challenges and striving for a world where 'Health for all Hunger for none’ is no longer a dream, but a real possibility. We’re doing it with energy, curiosity and sheer dedication, always learning from unique perspectives of those around us, expanding our thinking, growing our capabilities and redefining ‘impossible’. There are so many reasons to join us. If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice. As Bayer Crop Science's digital farming arm, we advance regenerative agriculture and technology breakthroughs using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like Climate FieldView and our ForGround regenerative agriculture platform, our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in ag. Are you an entrepreneurial builder who loves turning internal customers into raving fans? As a Senior Cloud Engineer with Bayer Digital Farming, you will help own and evolve our shared AWS platform, enabling hundreds of engineers to ship secure, reliable software faster. You’ll treat our platform like a product—curate paved roads, champion DevSecOps practices, and obsess over developer experience, cost, and reliability. We operate one of the largest, most diverse agronomic data footprints in the world. Your mission is to amplify the impact of our engineering teams by simplifying the path from idea to production using the tools and guardrails we already have—then iterating like an owner to make them better.

  • Be a hands-on SME for our internal toolchain (e.g., Terraform modules, AWS Service Catalog, GitLab CI, Datadog/CloudWatch, Backstage/IDP).
  • Run office hours, build exemplars/templates, write crisp docs, and pair with teams to accelerate adoption.
  • Triage and resolve platform requests; establish SLAs/SLOs and clear ownership boundaries.
  • Maintain opinionated IaC modules and deployment blueprints (multi-account, networking, security, observability, data).
  • Standardize on secure-by-default patterns (VPC, IAM, KMS, secrets, logging, ALB/API Gateway, S3/Lambda/ECS/EKS) with policy-as-code guardrails.
  • Embed security controls in CI/CD (linting, SAST/DAST, SBOMs, image signing, IaC checks).
  • Partner with Security, Compliance, and Data to keep controls automated and audit-ready.
  • Instrument and report developer experience KPIs (e.g., lead time/DORA metrics, onboarding time, time-to-first-deploy, CI success rate).
  • Run lightweight experiments (A/B docs, template tweaks) and ship improvements with a product mindset.
  • Build simple, actionable observability for platform components; reduce MTTR with good runbooks.
  • Practice FinOps: right-size, add cost guardrails/budgets/alerts, and guide teams to better spend.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to app delivery units, Security, and Data—turn requirements into paved road enhancements.
  • Mentor engineers; nurture a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years hands-on AWS experience operating production workloads.
  • Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform; CloudFormation a plus).
  • Solid programming for automation/tooling (Python, Go, or similar).
  • Strong grasp of cloud architecture, networking, and security fundamentals.
  • Experience productizing platform capabilities for internal users (templates, modules, Service Catalog, IDP/Backstage).
  • CI/CD at scale (GitLab pipelines, artifact registries, automated testing, progressive delivery).
  • Observability and logging (CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK/OpenSearch); practical SLOs/SLIs and on-call hygiene.
  • Container platforms (ECS/EKS), plus common data services (RDS/Aurora, S3/Lake patterns, MSK/Kinesis).
  • Policy-as-code (OPA/Conftest, Terraform Cloud/Enterprise policies), supply-chain security (SBOM, image signing).
  • FinOps experience (budgets, tagging, cost allocation/chargeback, rightsizing).
  • Relevant AWS certs (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) and superb communication skills.
  • Health care
  • Vision
  • Dental
  • Retirement
  • PTO
  • Sick leave
