About The Position

We are seeking a new Senior Cloud Architect to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located in our Chicago, IL office location and could have potential to be hybrid depending on the specific client, project and team needs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure/cloud roles with demonstrated progression into solution/cloud architecture leadership
  • Deep experience designing hybrid Microsoft environments (on‑prem AD/servers + Microsoft 365/Entra ID sync) and collaboration architectures
  • Proven integration architecture experience with iPaaS and APIs, including production ownership of integration ecosystems
  • Strong hands‑on capability in:
  • PowerShell (automation at scale, module patterns, robust error handling)
  • .NET / C# (building integration utilities/services; Azure Functions experience strongly preferred)
  • JSON (schema design, transformation, validation)
  • ETL/ELT architecture and operations (data movement, transformations, monitoring, reconciliation)
  • Ability to create architecture deliverables and drive cross-team adoption: diagrams, standards, reference implementations, migration playbooks
  • Vendor and stakeholder management experience—able to lead architecture decisions with internal teams and outsourced partners

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft architecture/admin certifications (e.g., Azure architect/admin track; Microsoft 365 admin track) or equivalent experience
  • Experience in environments using engineering DMS platforms such as ProjectWise and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud (helpful, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Delivery Leadership with Outsourced Partners
  • Serve as senior technical leader coordinating work across the outsourced Service Desktop/helpdesk and outsourced server administration team.
  • Define operational boundaries and “handoff-ready” designs:
  • create runbooks and architecture guardrails MSPs can operate within,
  • establish escalation patterns for cross-system incidents (identity, collaboration, integrations).
  • Enterprise Cloud & Hybrid Architecture
  • Define reference architecture for Ardmore Roderick’s hybrid Microsoft environment
  • Produce and maintain architecture artifacts: current-state diagrams, target-state diagrams, integration maps, dependency matrices, and sequencing roadmaps
  • Establish architecture standards and patterns for:
  • Identity/group modeling for business access patterns
  • Collaboration site provisioning and lifecycle
  • Integration/data movement approaches (Workato vs custom code vs other tooling)
  • Define standardized patterns for SharePoint/Teams service design
  • Integration Architecture & ETL/ELT Systems
  • Architect and govern the platform’s use at AR (environment strategy, connector patterns, operational monitoring approach, lifecycle standards)
  • Design and lead reliable ETL/ELT pipelines that support:
  • Establish data architecture practices:
  • Canonical models and mapping specs
  • Schema/version management for JSON payloads
  • Incremental processing patterns (e.g., delta loads) and reconciliation reporting
  • Run-state observability requirements (logs/metrics/alerts) and SLAs
  • AI Initiative – Tactical Enablement & Implementation Ownership
  • AI use‑case intake & portfolio management
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog and lightweight stage gates
  • AI readiness of content and information architecture
  • Enablement execution in Microsoft 365
  • Develop pilot waves for Microsoft 365 AI experiences with clear success criteria, onboarding kits, and department-specific playbooks
  • Create reusable enablement patterns (licensing assignment approach, rollout waves, support readiness, comms templates)
  • Adoption & operationalization
  • Build role-based enablement materials: “prompt patterns,” job aids, short trainings and office hours
  • Establish adoption measurement and feedback loops and convert findings into iterative improvements
  • Workflow + integration alignment
  • Identify AI-accelerated workflow opportunities that intersect with Workato/ETL systems and propose integration enhancements to scale value
